Medvedev: Poland would disappear from the map in case of war between Russia and NATO. The former Russian president responded to comments by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki that Moscow would “lose very quickly” in a conflict once morest the Atlantic Alliance.
The vice president of the Russian Security Council, Dmitri Medvedev, asserted this Friday that Poland would cease to exist if a war broke out between Moscow and NATO.
In this way, the former president responded to the statements of the Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, in an interview with the American channel NBC in which he spoke of the conflict in Ukraine.
Asked if he believes that the Ukrainian attacks once morest targets in Russia can lead to “a wider war, drawing Poland into the conflict“, the politician said that he is not so worried, since it would be a “war between Russia and NATO, and Russia would lose this war very quickly.”
“They believe that by fighting Ukraine they are fighting the West and NATOwhile the reality is that we only support a brutally invaded country through our financial assistance and arms supply,” Morawiecki insisted.
For his part, Medvedev tweeted that he is not sure who would emerge victorious in an open conflict between Moscow and the Alliance, although “taking into account Poland’s role as NATO outpost in Europe”, the Slavic country “will surely disappear along with its stupid prime minister”.
During his visit to the US, the head of the Polish government warned in an interview with the Atlantic Council think tank that a defeat for Ukraine in the conflict with Russia “might be the beginning of the end of the golden age of the West«. Along these lines, he pointed out that the existence of Ukraine “is crucial to contain Russia”, assuring that, if Moscow prevails in the conflict, Warsaw would be “next”.
