Poland has decided to send more troops to the border with Belarus, because according to Warsaw, two Belarusian military helicopters violated Polish airspace on Tuesday.

The Polish Foreign Ministry calls on Minsk to explain the incident “immediately and in detail”. The Belarusian representative in Poland has been summoned. The Ministry of Defense warned NATO of the incident and sent more troops to the border, including combat helicopters.

Tensions have been rising between Poland and Belarus since Russia’s mercenary Wagner army fled to Belarusian territory following Wagner boss Evgeniy Prigozhin’s failed coup last month. The Polish government fears that Wagner’s fighters will invade Poland at the same time as illegal migrants.
