Polish press reports that an investigation is now underway into suspected fraud by Robert Lewandowski, who is accused of obtaining certificates without ever passing the required tests.
The Polish international footballer, former Bayern Munich star and current Barcelona player, has been accused of cheating following obtaining two degrees in education from the private University of Lodz without taking the necessary exams to obtain them.
According to the Polish website “Unit”, the authorities opened a large-scale investigation into the illegal trade in certificates involving a former director of the football club named Zbigniew D., where Lewandowski’s name appeared among those who obtained certificates from the University of Lodz.
According to the Polish website, the doubts were also revealed following the testimony of one of the professors who indicated that the player was never present at the exam sessions.
In contrast, a woman named Barbara Mrozinska defended Lewandowski, saying in a post on the “X” platform: “Lewandowski bought his diploma from the University of Lodz. I write this with full responsibility because he passed two exams under my supervision. I learned regarding this incident during the interrogation to take my statement as a witness in this disgusting case.”
In addition, the same source (Polish website “Unit”) stated that Lewandowski holds two other legitimate degrees without discussion, a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in physical education, which he obtained in 2017 and 2020 from the University of Warsaw following 13 years of study.
According to the same website, Barcelona’s top scorer began studying in 2007, a year following he started his sports career, which delayed his educational career a little, which prompted investigators to investigate further whether he might have enough time to obtain two master’s degrees at the same time, while he was struggling to obtain one.
According to the Polish press, Robert Lewandowski’s defense stated that he has nothing to hide and that he intends to clarify the situation.
