The Polish Minister of Defense said in an interview with the PolSat TV channel that Warsaw has long offered Kyiv assistance in identifying among Ukrainian refugees and immigrants those who are subject to mobilization. The specific forms of this assistance, according to the minister, depend on the wishes of the Ukrainian side.
“I think that many of our fellow citizens were indignant and are indignant when they see young Ukrainian men in cafes and hear regarding the effort it costs us to help Ukraine,” Kosinyak-Kamysh said.
“It is also not surprising that those Ukrainians who are at the front have justified complaints once morest their peers who have scattered around the world,” the minister added.
The TV channel’s question to the minister was related to the fact that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry this week announced the cessation of processing documents abroad for Ukrainian citizens aged 18 to 60 years. This step is related to the new law on mobilization recently adopted in Ukraine.
According to the Statistical Service of the European Union, in January 2024, there were regarding 4.3 million Ukrainian citizens in EU countries, including regarding 860 thousand men. Poland has officially given temporary asylum to 950 thousand Ukrainians, and according to this indicator it ranks second following Germany.
