Baghdad / Obelisk: Poland’s representative to the United Nations, Krzysztof Szczerski, delivered a message to the President of the 77th session of the General Assembly, Chapa Koroshi, today, Friday, regarding the compensation demanded by Warsaw Berlin, for the effects of the Nazi invasion of Poland.

Polina Kubiak, a spokeswoman for the President of the General Assembly, said that the permanent representative of Poland “officially handed Koroshi a letter on reparations.”

She pointed out that “this letter is related to the relations between Germany and Poland and deals with reparations of World War II.”

And the Polish authorities said earlier that it had demanded 6.2 trillion zlotys (regarding 1.3 trillion dollars) from Germany in compensation for damages from World War II. Last October, Poland sent a memorandum to Germany through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

For its part, the German government has stated more than once that it “does not intend to make any payments to Poland.”

Warsaw addressed the same request earlier to the US Congress, UNESCO, the Council of Europe, the United Nations, and 50 countries, including the European Union and NATO.
