Poland announced new procedures for the transit of Ukrainian grain through the country | Poland Grain Ukraine Transit | AFN | Belarusian news | Republic of Belarus

New procedures will be introduced for the transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland – they are designed to simplify transportation across the border, but at the same time counteract possible violations. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Poland Henryk Kowalczyk.

On Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Poland Henryk Kowalczyk met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Nikolai Solsky. According to Kowalczyk, the meeting concerned the transportation of Ukrainian grain through Polish territory, RMF24 reports.

“We have come to conclusions that, on the one hand, will improve transportation across the border, and on the other hand, will give a complete sense of food security in the country,” said the Minister of Agriculture of Poland.

He assured that all products transported from Ukraine to Poland will continue to be subject to very strict phytosanitary control.

“We want Polish food, as well as feed, to be fully protected,” he said.

Kowalczyk also announced new procedures for the transit of Ukrainian grain through Poland.

“We also want to introduce guarantees, but without the need for full phytosanitary control, for products that will be transported from Ukraine in transit. Here we agreed on two ways, depending on the type of transport,” the minister said.

As he explained, in the case of rail transportation, the carrier will be obliged to secure and seal the wagons until the moment of reloading. The inspections will be carried out by the National Tax Administration. A “very clear indication of the destination” of the shipment would also be required. Kowalczyk added that similar procedures would apply to wheeled vehicles.

According to him, it is expected that the new solutions will improve the border clearance of grain transit.

The European Union is not considering the option of introducing previously canceled duties on Ukrainian agricultural products, despite the negative impact on farmers in some countries.
