Aired on August 3, the Pokémon Presents delivered a lot of information regarding the next episode. On the program: a new region, new Pokémon, and new features.
It is one of the most cult video game sagas of all time. Pokémon has accompanied many generations and has established itself on several terrains: maps, anime, video games… Created in 1995, the license continues to attract. In 2021, The Pokémon Company also recorded record sales, with 1.6 billion dollars and 322 million dollars in net profits. Faced with this growing success, the saga must reinvent itself and offer ever more attractive content.
This Wednesday, August 3, The Pokémon Company presented its novelties in terms of gaming. She talked regarding the future of her mobile games and the next episodes of the saga, Scarlet and Violet. Intended for the Switch, they will mark the beginning of the ninth generation of Pokémon. A new trailer has been unveiled and allows us to know a little more regarding these titles which should be released on November 18.
Legendary Pokémon used as mounts
Scarlet and Violet will allow players to venture into a whole new region: Paldea. The trailer reveals very different landscapes and takes us on a journey through meadows, desert spaces, and small alleys. These new decors are inspired by Spain – an imposing cathedral is even reminiscent of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
These images also allow us to get to know the inhabitants of the region, such as Professor Jacq, Pania (a shy comrade), and the Ice-type champion, Grusha. There are well-known creatures of the universe, namely Caninos, Pomdepik, or Girafarig. New little beasts are also arriving, such as Pâtachiot and Balbalèze, and the legendary Pokémon Koraidon (in the version Scarlet) and Miraidon (in Violet).
Exceptionally, these will be obtained at the start of the adventure. They will be very useful because they can be used as a mount to move on land, in the air, and on water. Indeed, they can turn into a scooter, boat or plane as needed.
In this new adventure, the gamer will embody a student from an Academy (Orange or Raisin). Sent on an extracurricular trip with classmates, he will be able to discover the region through three different intrigues: a classic one (where the objective is to beat the eight arena champions) and two new ones, which have not yet been revealed.

Already experienced in Pokémon Sword et Shield et Pokemon Legends Arceus, the open world will be at the center of these new games. The voiceover of the trailer indeed announces that it is regarding « Open-world RPG, a first for the series Pokémon” but does not give more details regarding how it works.
However, The Pokémon Company has unveiled crucial information: for the first time, players will not be forced to follow an imposed order to fight in the arenas. They will be able to stroll throughout the region quickly, without following a pre-established chronological order.
Just like in the previous installments, Scarlet et Violet will offer a special mechanic. Teracrystallization will allow our Pokémon to strengthen its statistics, make it stronger and change its type during a fight. The trailer also emphasizes multiplayer. Club Union will allow us to play with three players (maximum) simultaneously to discover the region and capture Pokémon. Throughout the trailer, the words “treasure hunt” come up regularly. We can therefore expect an extraordinary adventure full of surprises.
