If you are a fan of Pokémon for a long time (as since yesterday), the exit, in next novemberof Pokemon Scarlet et Pokemon Purple is really an event. Whereas beginning of the yearless of three months only following the remakes are released Pokémon Sparkling Diamond et Pokémon Sparkling Pearlthe Nintendo Switch welcomed Pokemon Legends: Arceusan innovative episode taking place in “open areas”, The Pokémon Company already put the cover back by taking out the “Big game“.
Pokemon Scarlet et Pokemon Purple present themselves as a real leap forward for the license by rethinking the conventions that have governed it until now, in the manner of Nintendo with his The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild, which has now become a model to follow and almost a genre in its own right. Suffice to say that the pressure must be great for the development teams who have no room for error. Pokemon Scarlet / Violet must imperatively establish itself as a must and a historic date for the series.
So far Nintendo et The Pokémon Company ensure the promotion of the title(s) by delivering information in dribs and drabs. The idea is to gradually increase the “hype” around the games by reserving a maximum of surprises for the players, controller in hand. However, with the current means of communication and, in particular, social networks, it is becoming more and more difficult for large companies to keep their productions secret. Between the internal blunders (as recently Ubisoft with the latest Mario + Rabbids), the rumors propagated by the doctor and leaks from insiders, unofficial information very often short-circuits the official narrative with sometimes consequences, not only on the morale of the development teams but also on the perception that one can have of certain games, even even on their sales. In 2019 the exit of Pokémon Sword et Pokemon Shield almost turned into a fiasco because of massive leaks who will put The Pokémon Company angry and which will end by convictions. At the time, the leaks came fromcompany employees printing game guides. There had also been an editor from a Portuguese Nintendo siteclosed immediately, and several Discord accounts that had been singled out.
Since then, by the way, you should know that video game companies are much stricter on the sites they work with and beware of those who do not respect the NDAs (the “non-disclosure agreements”.) With everything that, we hoped that the new games Pokémonexpected at the end of the yearwere going to avoid a new series of massive leaks… Unfortunately, while the release of Pokemon Scarlet et Pokemon Purple is still “distant” (they come out precisely in four months, next November 18) it seems that games have already fallen victim to a new leak important. Thus, for several days, images of Pokémon and trainers have been circulating and a lot of information is shared, in particular on Twitter.
So obviously, it may be fake but if these leaks were to be confirmed, one wonders where the fault is once more? How can this once more happen to such “important” Pokémon games and in such proportions? The Pokémon Company must necessarily be on the spot to identify the source but it is still quite incredible that history repeats itself – if that is indeed the case…
