Pokémon Go players are sharing their heartwarming stories to prove that the community is still as caring as it was in 2016.

Pokémon Go has come a long way since its release in 2016 – but it’s hard to forget what the game was like when it launched. Thousands of people took to the streets to catch them all and what many saw was truly wonderful. No other game has managed to achieve what Pokémon Go did that first year, and since then we’ve seen a community like no other.

Of course, there are always negative elements that emerge from a community and many players’ complaints towards the game, and with that, it becomes difficult to remember the good times that still happen. However, they haven’t gone away, with now tons of players sharing their stories to prove that Pokémon Go is just as heartwarming as it once was.

They started the series by sharing their own story: “On my way home from work today while stuck at a very long red light, I launched the game and quickly placed my Pokémon in a gym. Then I heard a horn honking to my left and saw another guy in his car showing me his phone – he was also playing Pokémon Go lol. We laughed about this in our cars and gave each other a thumbs up. I’ve been playing on and off for years and when Pokémon Go launched, it was truly a sight to see people rally around the game.”

Others took to the comments to share their own caring stories, with someone sharing how he “was walking alone playing and a whole family across the street started a Raid and shouted asking if I was playing and if I would like to join. After winning, they gave me some advice on Mega Evolutions that I didn’t know! There are definitely still good moments!”

For many, Pokémon Go is more than just a game, with its community and Raid Hours helping players through tough times: “The community in my area has been great. I’ve met several friends through gaming and Raid hours on Wednesdays give me a reason to go out and socialize. Socializing has helped me cope with the difficult times I am facing at the moment.”

As well as being greeted by other fans, some shared how they helped increase the fun for others, with one explaining how they probably made a child’s day: “When the first Mewtwo Raids came out, we had a group of us driving around to get them all. In one place there was a child playing alone, maybe 8 or 9 years old. The kid asks if he can join us because he really wanted Mewtwo. We fight and we all make our catches and we see the child become sad because he didn’t stay in the ball and finally he catches it and lets out a little cry with tears of happiness, like pure joy. . We all cheer for him etc… It was a big day for this child.”
