Pokémon GO: New Year’s Eve 2023 Event – Start Date and Time
When will the 2023 New Year’s Eve event take place in Pokémon GO? Unsurprisingly, Niantic decided to kick off the 2023 New Years Eve event on New Years Eve. If you have other plans than playing Pokémon GO on New Year’s Eve, you don’t have to worry regarding missing out. The New Year 2023 event will last a few more days. The event will take place on the following days in Pokémon GO:
- Start of the event: Saturday, December 31, 2022 from 8:00 p.m. (local time)
- End of the event: Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. (local time)
What are the new Pokemon? The Pokémon GO 2023 New Year’s Event doesn’t necessarily bring any particularly spectacular new monsters to the game, but you can capture the following Pokémon exclusively as part of the event: (*also possible as Shiny)
- Pikachu with a party cylinder*.
Additionally, upon the start of Pokémon GO’s 2023 New Year’s Eve Event, you will have the option to evolve your Hoothoot with New Year’s Outfit into Noctuh with New Year’s Outfit.

What bonuses are active during the event? This time around, the event is especially great if you still have Pokémon eggs to hatch. Unfortunately, the 2023 New Year’s Event does not offer a stardust bonus. Nevertheless, you can expect to receive the following bonuses:
- All Pokémon Eggs placed in a Hatchery during the 2023 New Year’s Event will hatch twice as fast.
- The hatching distance will be quartered for the first three eggs you hatch with the new Pokémon GO widget during the New Year’s Event. (For this you need to add the widget to your home screen smartphone on Android and iOS).
Do not forget : Even though hatching distance reduction is a really huge bonus in Pokémon GO’s New Year’s event, unfortunately the two bonuses cannot be combined. Niantic has mentioned it on its website.
