Miriam Behrens, the director of the Swiss Refugee Agency, says that almost 70,000 beds are already being offered by host families.
The Swiss Refugee Aid, which works together with other aid organizations, has already accommodated 1,300 refugees with over 500 families. “This sounds like little, but accommodation with private families is not the most efficient way to give refugees a roof over their heads,” says Behrens.
We are currently working with over 28,000 host families who offer more than 69,000 beds. In order to exploit the potential now, it is important to set up the appropriate structures. Recruitment also takes time.
