Lyrically known as the poet of sadness and autumn, Rimas Burokas, born in Alytus, died in April of this year. on the 21st would have celebrated his 70th anniversary. Of course, it would be much nicer to talk about people who are living and creating now, but life is what it is – bright personalities usually leave the world too early, leaving only a bright trace of their creativity to remember.

Rim Burok was a child of our city. Here he was born, grew up, attended secondary school. school (now Adolfos Ramanauskas-Vanagas high school). He studied well, read a lot. This is where he wrote his first poems (he wrote them on the spot, on a napkin, a torn page from a book, a scrap of paper and handed them out to anyone – a driver, a waiter, any good person he met). Rhyme attracted everyone. Attracted by his poetic elegance, free posture and the fact that he was always in love. He lived by loving. He, one of the few who dared to live the way he wanted. But at that time, everything had to be paid for with the most expensive currency – life. Three terrifying questions: “What do you live on, where do you live, where do you work?” – accompanied Rima all those years. Answering it shyly, proudly, angrily— “I am a Poet”, Rimas died without seeing a single publication of his poems. He died in the Lukiškiu hospital when he was only 26 years old.

Texts written from a deep inner necessity must be shown to others, to passers-by, to the city.
