Podolyak urged SpaceX to “choose a side” after restricting Ukraine’s access to Starlink

SpaceX needs to decide which side it is on, says Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine. He stated this following SpaceX limited Ukraine’s use of the Starlink Internet to control drones.

“Companies must decide: either they are on the side of Ukraine and its right to freedom and are not looking for ways to harm it, or they are on the side of Russia and its “right” to kill and seize other people’s territories. SpaceX (Starlink) and Ms. Shotwell (SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell.— “uh”) must choose a specific option,” wrote Mr. Podolyak on Twitter.

Since the start of the Russian military operation, SpaceX has provided regarding 24,000 Starlink stations to Ukraine. In December, Kyiv announced that it would receive another 10,000 terminals. Yesterday, February 9, SpaceX restricted Ukrainian military access to Starlink satellite communications to control drones. As Shotwell explained, the company does not want its technology to be used for offensive purposes.
