Podcast. After the Ehpad scandal, revelations about the Orpea clinics

The private company Orpea has been at the heart of a scandal since the publication, at the end of January, of an investigation by Victor Castanet. In his book The Gravediggers (Fayard, 400 pages, 22.90 euros), this journalist reveals mistreatment and excesses within nursing homes of the Orpea group, one of the world leaders in this sector – there are two hundred and twenty nursing homes in France alone. Since then, Brigitte Bourguignon, the Minister Delegate for Autonomy, has launched two investigations and plans to strengthen control in nursing homes.

But Orpea also has seventy-two clinics and fifty-three psychiatric establishments through its subsidiary, Clinea. Samuel Laurent, journalist at the Society of Worldinvestigated and discovered, following collecting numerous testimonies, significant excesses in these establishments.

An episode produced by Clément Baudet, directed by Amandine Robillard and presented by Morgane Tual.
