Pocketed: Empowering Entrepreneurs with Access to Capital and Financial Support

Since its launch in 2021, Pocketed has helped more than 10,000 companies access more than $100 million in capital.

A barrier to entrepreneurship

“Money is the biggest barrier to entrepreneurship, and lack of access to capital has a disproportionate impact on women and entrepreneurs from equity-deserving groups,” said Brianna Blaney, CEO and co-founder of Pocketed.

She adds, “Less than 3% of venture capital funding goes to women. As entrepreneurs, we have come up once morest this reality. Because we want to empower entrepreneurs, we launched Pocketed to remove financial barriers for all entrepreneurs. »

The program was designed to increase the economic prospects of clients “who identify as female or non-binary.”

Impartial access to capital

More specifically, it aims to help them “achieve their professional ambitions and build their financial future by providing them with impartial access to capital and personalized solutions as well as by offering them tailored specialized training, mentoring and comprehensive consulting services”.

To date, Scotiabank has provided $7 billion under this initiative and is targeting a total of $10 billion by 2025.

“We are thrilled to continue our commitment to helping women gain the insightful advice and financial support essential to their business success through new initiatives such as our partnership with Pocketed,” said Lesly Tayles, executive responsible for The Scotiabank Women in Canada initiative.
