The app for reading and organizing texts Pocket won yesterday a new update, which brings a redesigned, faster interface and a new feature, which allows you to organize saved publications into lists. Both novelties should greatly increase the use of the app, especially helping those who have thousands of texts saved and don’t know where to start reading.

A home screen of the app was redesigned and is now its focus, in order to display different contents — between saved texts, topics of interest and new publications. The idea behind the new interface is for users to get in touch with different contents of interest in the different categories, but without being suffocated by large amounts of texts and the like.

Something strange is that some features of Pocket were abandonedwhich was admitted by the Mozilla (app owner) openly, under the justification of making the app faster. Some of them were highlighting texts and recommending posts.

According to the company, the latter gave rise to the new role of lists and the development team is working to bring back some features that were left out of the new version. In contrast, others — such as recommendations — should not return to the app.

The former “My List” section is now named “Saved”, where texts saved and archived by the user, tags and the like are displayed. According to the company, this tab should still gain a new interface to match the home screen and settings, which received a nice “shop bath”. There will also be news in the function of hear texts.

With the new feature of List, you can organize the texts saved in different folders, creating different lists and adding and removing publications from them. All created lists will appear in a… list, on the left side of the screen. At least for now, however, they are only available on the web version of Pocket and for US users.

In the coming months, the resource will be released to users around the world and will gain some new features, such as the possibility of sharing lists with other people, adding several texts at once to a list and adding notes to texts placed in lists. The novelty will also reach the Pocket app, although no forecast has been given for this.

In the Android app, it is now possible to save news vehicle subscription logins so that you don’t have to type data whenever you try to access a text. The forward and backward text buttons have also been optimized, as well as reading on tablets.
