The Executive Board of the Indonesian Billiards Sports Association (PB POBSI) is monitoring the potential talents of young billiard athletes competing in the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON for further development.
“Of course POBSI hopes that the tournament at PON will produce young athletes who we can continue to develop to take part in many championships in the future,” said POBSI Deputy Chairman Syafril Nasution as reported by BetweenMonday (9/9).
He explained that POBSI will be participating in many billiards championships in the future, both national and international.
Therefore, PON is a strategic momentum to produce young talents who can be trained in the future to face various championships.
Nasution did not rule out the possibility that new talents who excel at the upcoming PON could join the POBSI national training center.
“Of course there are rules in POBSI itself, athletes who are successful (at the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON) can join the national training, there are rules,” he said.

The billiards branch of the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON will start on Monday (9/9) by presenting several classes, namely men’s pool, women’s pool, carom, English billiards, and snooker.
The championship was attended by 141 athletes consisting of 127 male athletes and 14 female athletes. The athletes came from 32 provinces, namely, Bali, Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java, Central Java, West Java, DKI Jakarta, Banten, Lampung, Bengkulu.
Then, Jambi, Riau, Riau Islands, South Sumatra, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, Special Region of Aceh, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan.
