Four national citizens, aged between 21 and 28, were arrested on Monday, in the capital of the province, by the National Police, for allegedly being involved in the theft of electrical cables.

Speaking to ANGOP, this Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the National Police in Uíge, Freitas Zama, explained that the arrests took place in the Mbemba Ngango and Quissanga neighborhoods, on the outskirts of the city of Uíge, as a result of a micro-operation carried out by staff from the Criminal Offenses Department.

The citizens are also accused of tearing down high voltage poles, which were used to transport electricity from the Luquixe dam to the capital of the province, and will be forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the coming days.

The officer urged the population to collaborate with law enforcement, denouncing criminal acts, including the vandalization of public property.
