PMC Wagner in early 2023 tried to buy weapons and ammunition from China, writes The Financial Times, citing US intelligence and Pentagon documents declassified as a result of the leak.
A representative of a private military company, it follows from one of these documents, made a request for the supply of weapons to China. According to intelligence, China did not transfer any weapons, even samples, to PMC Wagner, and there is no information indicating that deliveries are planned.
Nevertheless, according to The Financial Times, the very fact that PMC representatives made such a request to the Chinese authorities deserves attention. Probably, the newspaper writes, they had reason to expect that the PRC would be ready to discuss this issue.
In Belarus and Syria, unlike China, they agreed to sell weapons to Wagner PMCs, according to declassified documents. We are talking, in particular, regarding grenade launchers and ammunition for them.
Earlier, The Washington Post, citing secret documents, the contents of which became known due to a leak, wrote that the Wagner PMC was negotiating the purchase of weapons in Turkey, a NATO member country. Then it was reported that there was no data on the result of these negotiations. The Financial Times, which studied another part of the declassified documents, reports that the Wagner PMC tried to buy drones, electronic warfare systems, counter-battery systems and howitzer artillery from Turkey, but Turkish contacts said they might not export such weapons.
