PMC Fighters’ Armed Rebellion in Rostov-on-Don: Details, Photos, and Updates

By the early morning of June 24, PMC fighters entered the center of Rostov-on-Don and cordoned off a number of administrative buildings, including the headquarters of the Southern Military District. They stayed in the city for almost the whole day, while part of the Wagnerites, as stated, headed towards Moscow, to “deal” with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense. The FSB opened a criminal case on the fact of organizing an armed rebellion. President Vladimir Putin called the rebellion a betrayal.

Around 20:00, it became known that Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, with Putin’s approval, was negotiating with Prigozhin and convinced him to turn around. The Kremlin said that the criminal case once morest Prigozhin would be dropped, and he would “leave for Belarus.” The PMC fighters who took part in the “campaign” were promised not to be persecuted “taking into account their merits at the front”, and those who did not participate would be allowed to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense.
