Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attack that targeted the Zahle executive office of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party in the town of Jdita in the Bekaa, and raised the Lebanese Forces flag on it. To this end, he made contact with the leaders of the security services to quickly uncover the circumstances of the incident and arrest the perpetrators.
There was also a call between Mikati and the head of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, during which Mikati wished to control emotions at this delicate moment in the nation’s history. Geagea denounced this incident, denying any connection between the “Lebanese Forces” and it.
Mikati also stressed the need for all Lebanese leaders to be aware of the seriousness of the stage that Lebanon is going through, and the necessity of staying away from everything that might inflame disputes and divisions, and to deal wisely with the existing reality.
Mikati considered that “the current situation cannot tolerate the revival of political disputes and partisan divisions. This is not the time, and they only lead to more tensions, which requires not allowing those lurking evil in the country and those who create strife to achieve their goals.”
He stressed that “our first and last bet remains on the wisdom of the Lebanese to save our country.”
The National Party center in Jdita was attacked by throwing a Molotov bomb at it, then hanging the “Forces” flag.
