Plugable launches compact 5-in-1 hub for MacBooks Air and Pro

A Plugable launched a new 5-in-1 hub yesterday (AMS-5IN1E) aimed at anyone who owns one of the latest models of MacBooks Air or Pro. The company presents the product as being low cost and highlights its compact form.

Also according to the company, the hub was developed to expand the users’ workspace. For this, the device adds five ports to the laptops, as it uses the connection of the two USB-C that the devices have.

By connecting the hub to a MacBook Air or Pro, the user will have:

  • One Gigabit Ethernet port;
  • Two USB 3.0 ports (5Gbps);
  • One USB-C port (40Gbps);
  • One headphone output (P2/3.5mm).

With the USB-C connection, for example, it is possible to plug in an external monitor of up to 6K at 60Hz – according to the restrictions imposed by Apple, of course. In addition, this same port also supports charging iPhones, iPads and other devices at up to 100W of power.

The device even has a cutout so that users can connect the MagSafe charger without giving up functionality (and a beautiful design).

Plugable’s 5-in-1 USB-C hub costs US$33 and is available now from multiple US retailers, including Amazon US.
