“Please smile” – holiday job in the dental laboratory

Sophia uses her artistic talent and proves a steady hand in the family business.

Sophia Lindsberger has grown into the family business from an early age, she knows her dad’s employees well and has long been familiar with a wide variety of dental technology equipment. She used to tinker with the leftovers of the materials, now she has been working for the second summer in the Lindsberger dental laboratory. “I was particularly surprised at how much quality of life you can give people with new teeth and how happy that makes them,” explains Sophia.

When we received a bouquet of flowers that we had picked ourselves… a moment that I will probably never forget.

Sophia begins her working day at 7:45 a.m. by delivering and collecting the “parcel”. When she returns to the laboratory on her bike, she has the new orders and repairs from the dentists in her luggage carrier basket. Then the teeth are “duplicated” with a silicone impression, cast with plaster or sanded down.

The 16-year-old attends the art branch of Borg Lienz and has a steady hand for all these tasks. In her free time she likes to work with all kinds of art, which is reflected in her motto “It’s okay to lose yourself for a little while. In books, in music, in art. Let yourself get lost.” perfectly reflected. In her holiday job, she also has the opportunity to live out her creative streak in some activities, a good example of this is “gum modeling”.

Sophia loves working in the dental laboratory. She likes her varied everyday life and is of course happy regarding the wages. Since this is her second summer doing this holiday job, she has decided to try a different career next year.
