Etumanoor: Play writer and director Onamthuruth Rajasekaran (71) passed away. He has won the National Award three times in drama writing. Onamthuruth Cheriyat is the son of Kochu Kunj and Devaki in the house. He died on Thursday night around 12 due to fever. Siblings: Thankamma and Kusumakumari. Late Padmanabhan and Sasidharan. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 pm at the residence in Onamthuru. He is single.
He entered the scene by composing and directing amateur dramas in programs centered on local libraries and clubs. After studying at St George’s School, Kaipuzha, he completed his ITI studies. Later, he took up drama writing and directing as a profession and worked in the field of theater for 41 years.
Rajasekar’s play won the first place in the South Indian Science Drama Festival organized by Vishwesarayya in Bengaluru and this play was selected for the Mumbai Drama Festival. He won the second prize for drama writing and direction in the drama festival organized by Kolkata HNL on the occasion of Nehru’s birth centenary.
Rajasekharan’s drama won the first place in the state school youth festival six times. Won first place five times in drama competition in Kerala State Youth Mela. Represented Kerala and participated in National Drama Festival five times.
Rajasekaran’s play has won the first prize seven times in the Kerala, MG and Kannur University Youth Festivals. Directed drama in inter university programs. The telefilm Karimott has won the Film Critics Award.
