PlayStation’s subscription service could debut as soon as next week

PlayStation 5

at the end of last yearPlayStation is rumored to launch an Xbox Game Pass-like subscription serviceand according to Bloomberg The service, code-named “Spartacus”, might go live as soon as next week, sources said. The source also pointed out that there will be a series of “recent masterpieces” when the service first goes live, but there will be no new titles coming to the subscription service on the same day as soon as they are launched.

Unfortunately, there is no exact information on pricing yet. The previous news was that it would be divided into three tiers. The most entry-level “Essential” tier is roughly the same as the current PlayStation Plus, which is rumored to be US$10 a month; the middle “Extra” tier will provide additional “hundreds” of games. For download, the monthly fee is US$13; and finally, the “Premium tier” with a monthly fee of US$16 will be added to the PlayStation Now game streaming service and future game previews. However, the above are all rumors and have not been confirmed.

Compared with Microsoft, Sony’s reliance on Spartacus is not so heavy. After all, the sales of the PlayStation console itself is still the Xbox one. But with Game Pass becoming the main selling point of the Xbox, the PlayStation side still has to prepare for a similar service, just in case Game Pass becomes a breakthrough for Microsoft.
