To the bad surprise of the players, it seems that Sony has disabled the possibility of accumulating subscriptions. At least that’s what some of them would have discovered when trying to activate the code for their PS Plus and PS Now prepaid cards.

That’s what Push Square reported, several other media in turn corroborating the news.
It looks like this might be a response to the influx of gamers trying to extend their subscription following Sony announced that those who were both PS Plus and PS Now members would automatically have their accounts upgraded to the palier Premium in June… and that the duration of the new subscription would be equivalent to the longer of the two memberships. Some would then have gone in search of prepaid PlayStation Plus cards to take advantage of the “loophole” and obtain a Premium subscription at a discount.
A user on the forum Reset however, was reportedly unable to activate one of his cards and so contacted Sony customer service to report the issue. The manufacturer would then have replied that we might not add codes to the account at the moment and that the option to use PS Plus codes had been deactivated.
Accumulation of subscriptions was common practice in the community. Players might use prepaid cards to add a time extension to their current subscription, even before it expired. It was not uncommon for some to add up to 12 additional months, accumulating a subscription of up to two years or more.
Temporary interruption
According to discussions that other players have had with Sony customer service, however, this option is temporarily disabled.
In this sense, customers with prepaid cards in their possession should therefore be able to activate them later. Shop Toa European online store that has halted sales of PlayStation prepaid cards, said the codes won’t be redeemable until mid-June or until the current subscription ends.
Sony has yet to issue an official statement regarding the situation surrounding prepaid cards.
