The clock is ticking and the new PlayStation Plus services are coming! You are already subscribed to one of the current services and you do not know what your subscription will become? Are you lost by Sony’s proposals? We explain everything you need to know.

It is on June 22 that the service of Sony PlayStation Plus will officially get a new makeover. Exit PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus, make way for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra and Premium! The objective of this overhaul is to simplify everything by merging the services already available today to offer a more diverse offer to its users, and to help them choose what suits them best. But a change in subscription always raises many questions, starting with how current subscribers will be redirected to the new service. Don’t panic, we’ll explain everything to you.

Summary

  • For current subscribers
    • You are subscribed to PlayStation Plus only
    • You are subscribed to PlayStation Now only
    • You are subscribed to PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now
  • For new subscribers

For current subscribers

Whatever your current subscription, rest assured, you have absolutely nothing to do. Indeed, if your subscription should still be active after June 22, Sony will automatically switch between the latter and the corresponding new service. However, you might be wondering which of the three new offers matches your current subscription, and what if you’re both a PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now subscriber.

You are subscribed to PlayStation Plus only

If you only subscribe to PlayStation Plus, your subscription will be redirected to a PlayStation Plus Essential subscription until the end of your current subscription.

For example, if you subscribe today until August 30 to PlayStation Plus, you will upgrade to PlayStation Plus Essential automatically from June 22, until August 30.

You are subscribed to PlayStation Now only

If you only subscribe to PlayStation Now, your subscription will be redirected to a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription until the end of your current subscription.

For example, if you subscribe today until August 30 to PlayStation Plus, you will upgrade to PlayStation Plus Premium automatically from June 22, until August 30.

You are subscribed to PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now

In an FAQ, Sony addresses this issue as follows: “If you are subscribed to both services when the new PlayStation Plus becomes available, you will switch to the PlayStation Plus Premium plan with a new single payment date corresponding to your subscription with the longest end date”

In other words, if you are subscribed to both services today, you will automatically be redirected to a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription until the end of your subscription with the later end date.

For example, if you are subscribed to PlayStation Now until August 30, and PlayStation Plus until September 15, you will upgrade to PlayStation Plus Premium from June 22, until September 15.

For PlayStation Now subscribers who would like to take advantage of it to have a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription at a lower cost by taking a one-year prepaid PlayStation Plus card and combining your subscriptions, please note that these have been temporarily disabled by Sony.
