Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service is the gift that keeps on giving, as long as you keep paying the subscription fee, of course.
PlayStation Plus is available in three tiers. PS Plus Essential is basically the same tier before the 2022 revision, which includes monthly game selection, member discounts, free DLC bonuses and much more. PS Plus Extra offers everything included in the Essential tier, but with a much wider selection of PS5 and PS4 games to choose from.
As for PS Plus Premium, it includes everything included in the previous two tiers as well as trials, streaming, access to PlayStation Core and much more. Speaking of which, PlayStation Core is the topic of discussion in today’s article.
In case you don’t know, Sony Bravia Core, a movie and TV series streaming platform similar to Prime Video, was rebranded as Sony Pictures Core on October 5, 2023. Additionally, if you subscribe to PS Plus Premium , you will have access to PlayStation. Core which offers a curated selection of around a hundred films.
Sure, the selection isn’t that great, but when complemented by the recent ability to stream PlayStation 5 games, it at least justifies Sony’s recent PS Plus bump, even if it’s just a little. Although it includes gems such as Django Unchained, Black Hawk Down et Zombie Land just to name a few.
However, from now until November 30, 2023, all PS Plus subscribers (regardless of tier) will receive a 15% discount on all purchases and rentals on Sony Pictures Core through the PlayStation app. This means that the cost of purchasing the new Grand Tourism the film is reduced from £13.99 to £11.89. Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse will also cost £11.89 or £4.67 to rent instead of £5.49.
Additionally, PS Plus Premium subscribers will receive exclusive early access to Silent Hill : Ascension, an interactive video game whose events are determined by the live audience. PS Plus subscribers will get 24-hour early access before Silent Hill : Ascension becomes available on other streaming platforms.
So if you’re not sure what to watch this weekend and you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, it might be worth checking out Sony Pictures Core over the next few weeks.
