The PlayStation Network presented a global failure this Thursday (21), which prevented users from several countries from connecting to Sony’s online gaming platform. So far, nothing has been mentioned by the company on its official profiles, but it has already acknowledged the problem to the North American press.
To date, however, there is no confirmation that the situation has already been remedied, and sites such as Down Detector, which monitors the supply of online services in real time, are still recording an increase in complaints from Brazilian users since at least at 1pm today.
To the Verge, Sony said that the following features may present “connection difficulties”:
- log in or create a new PlayStation Network account
- launch games, apps or network functions
- view content from the PlayStation Video tab
- access, view or purchase products from PlayStation Store
- access, view or purchase PlayStation Direct products
Just for clarification purposes, the PlayStation Network has not “crashed” permanently. The service is live, but connections are unstable – while you cannot access the platform, the person next to you may be browsing it normally.
Still, Sony did not comment on what may have caused the reduction in capacity of the gaming platform’s online services. Nor do we have an estimate of when everything will be resolved.
