PlayStation is preparing to develop even more games… on mobile too

A few days ago, we told you regarding the recent job offer from Sony Interactive Entertainment online to strengthen the PlayStation studio in California responsible for adapting the brand’s games on PC. Today, we learn that the Japanese firm has just recruited two big names in the mobile games industry to continue its work on adapting PlayStation games to smartphones and tablets.

But where will PlayStation stop? The Japanese firm has been fairly silent for a few months, but the latter seems to be preparing for a fairly bright future. After the creation of PlayStation Productions in May 2019, projects are multiplying. Currently these are seven film and series projects that are in progress.

After carrying eight PS4 and PS5 PC exclusives, PlayStation should soon offer its ninth game on Steam and the Epic Games Store with Uncharted Legacy of Thieves which is expected in June. With the recent job offer posted online this week, we know that the firm wants to develop on this new platform.

On the side of the PS5, everything seems to be going for the best with already a big year 2022 with the release of Uncharted Legacy Of Thieves, Horizon Forbidden West or Grand Touring 7. The end of the year seems just as incredible with a certain God of War Ragnarök which should end 2022 in style.

Will we soon also have a lot of PlayStation news on our iOS and Android smartphones and tablets? We just learned through Games Industry that Sony has recruited two big names in the mobile market with Olivier Courtmanche, the former product director at Zynga and the former product manager at Meta. The latter joins the mobile division of PlayStation in the role of head of mobile products.

The other hiring involves Kris David, the former vice president of business development and head of mergers, acquisitions and licensing at Kabam who becomes the new senior director of mobile business development at PlayStation.

In May 2021, Sony had confirmed its intention to port many PlayStation licenses on mobiles. It looks like the project is well underway!
