Steam lets developers know that it is now possible to indicate DualShock and DualSense compatibility on the game sheet.
While there is technically no problem playing with a handcuffs to most games available on Steam, the models of PlayStation have always been a little apart. Not for much longer? This is the ambition behind a recent note service sent by Steam to developers.
The keys in the hands of developers
Steam announced to developers last week the availability of a new form when submitting their game allowing them to indicate their compatibility with the DualShock 4 (PlayStation 4) and DualSense (PlayStation 5) controllers.
If applicable, these controllers will be displayed in the dedicated insert on each game sheet. It will therefore be much easier to know if you can use your brand new DualSense Edge, for example, with the latest trendy game on Steam.

In its post, Steam explains that compatibility with PlayStation controllers will be displayed via product sheets starting next month. In addition, a new filter will allow consumers to only display games compatible (totally or partially) with a PlayStation controller.
The slow but undeniable progress of PlayStation on PC
To motivate its decision, although late, Steam motivates that more players are using a PlayStation pad today. In 2018, Steam counted only 11% of the approximately 87 million players who use a controller to play on PC. Today, this figure is 27%.
A significant increase which can be explained by several factors. The first is that the PlayStation 5’s DualSense has excellent press, thanks to its precise haptic feedback and its adaptive triggers. The second is that Sony has worked hard to port some of its most popular games to PC (like The Last of Us Part I For example). Games that take advantage of the advantages of these in-house controllers, and which might therefore motivate gamers to equip themselves accordingly.
