Good news for the players at the PlayStation 5. There will be a trundle in the next few days a long-awaited update and brings VRR support with it. On HDMI 2.1 VRR compatible TVs and PC monitors, VRR dynamically synchronizes the display refresh rate with the PS5 console’s graphical output.
VRR is automatically enabled for supported games, users can also disable the feature under “Screen and Video” in the system settings. VRR can also be used for unsupported games. If this leads to graphical errors, you should deactivate the whole thing once more.
In short: VRR, in combination with compatible displays with HDMI 2.1, ensures that you can enjoy a smooth gaming experience even with inconsistent frame rates. Previously released PS5 games can be fully optimized for VRR through a patch, and future games will include VRR support at launch.
