If we will have to wait until June 22 to take advantage of the new PlayStation Plus offers, Asian users of the PlayStation 5 can already take advantage of them! By choosing the Premium option, owners of the latest Sony consoles will be able to access a catalog of PS1, PS2 and PSP games. And for the manufacturer’s first machine, users will be able to activate filters to restore the rendering of televisions of yesteryear.
From this week, Asia will be able to discover the new PlayStation Plus offers and users have started to give their first impressions. And among the feedback emerged the presence of retro filters for PlayStation 1 games! Indeed, users trying out the titles of Sony’s first console will be able to activate effects reproducing the “grain” of the time, but also smooth the games to adapt them to current televisions.
RETRO OR SMOOTHING FILTER, MAKE YOUR CHOICE FOR YOUR PS1 GAMES
Concretely, by playing with PS1 games, subscribers to the PlayStation Plus Premium offer will be able to choose between 3 modes: default, classic retro, and modern. Reddit user Brokenswiftie shared photos of these infamous filters to preview how it looks. Some will say that the differences are slight, but the retro filter makes it possible to activate “scanlines”, as on cathode-ray televisions of the time. You can get a glimpse of it in the photos below. To see the differences, open the photos in full screen mode. Among the other options announced, it will apparently be possible to instantly save, regardless of where the game is, and rewind the action in case of failure.

The new PlayStation Plus, including Essential, Extra and Premium bundles, will be available in the Asia region before hitting Japan next week, then the US on June 13 and, finally, Europe, Australia and New Zealand on June 23.
