If you are one of the lucky ones who managed to get a PlayStation 5, you will be delighted to learn that a new feature has finally arrived on the console to make its games more beautiful and more fluid! We explain how to activate it.

We explained to you just a few days ago what the VRR waswhich was due to arrive in the coming weeks on PlayStation 5but it is now done for all games Insomniac Games ! From today, you can therefore activate this “variable refresh rate” feature and take advantage of it on Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man : Miles Morales et Ratchet & Clank : Rift Apart.

Summary

  • What to do
  • And the other games?

What to do

To be able to take full advantage of this new VRR functionality, you therefore need a PlayStation 5 and one of these games, of course, but not only. In effect, not all TVs and monitors support variable refresh rate. To be sure that you have a compatible screen, it must have an HDMI 2.1 port, and your PlayStation 5 console must be connected to it via the latter with the corresponding cable. To help you, know that these screens are generally sold with the mention “Freesync” or “Gsync” written somewhere.

You have a PlayStation 5, a compatible screen and at least one of the Insomniac Games games and you want to enjoy a better and smoother picture? All you need to do to enjoy it today is connect your console to the internet. Indeed, the deployment of the update having already started across the world, all you have to do is download it. Be careful though, you must both update the console and the game concerned to be able to activate the VRR!

And the other games?

PlayStation 5: how to make your games smoother and more beautiful with a console feature? We explain how to activate it

Earlier in the week, Sony announced the list of games that will soon be able to benefit from this new feature. For the time being, it will therefore be limited to :

  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Destiny 2
  • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
  • DIRT 5
  • Godfall
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
  • Tribes of Midgard

If, unlike Insomniac Games, you will still have to wait a few days to enjoy it, you can already configure your console so that the VRR is activated as soon as possible. To do this, you will find the “VRR” option in the video settings of the consoleon the same page as resolution and HDR for example.

Furthermore, be aware that‘it will also be necessary to wait for a corrective patch on each of these games to be able to take advantage of the variable refresh ratebut also that any game will still be able to benefit from the feature in some way, even if they are theoretically not compatible. To do this, you can activate the option in the same place as for the VRR in general, and turn it off if you don’t think it’s necessary. Such an option should a priori improve your gaming experience and optimize the visual performance of many console titles.
