PlayStation 5 hacked by hackers, jailbreak can be done

Since Sony first released the PlayStation 5 in late 2020, hackers have been trying to jailbreak this console. Then in 2021, the console’s debug menu has been unlocked. That is a sign of advancement in the hacker’s efforts.

Most recently, Twitter users @StretchEcho and @SpecterDev posted the ability to successfully circumvent Sony’s security systems using a Webkit vulnerability.

For readers who don’t know, jailbreaking or jailbreaking is a process that takes advantage of vulnerabilities/flaws in locked electronic devices to install unauthorized software. in which case It means unlocking it to allow the device to play pirated PS5 games.

This jailbreak indicates that it is compatible with PlayStation 5 running firmware 4.03 or lower. The jailbreak is done via PC or Mac.

Comments from the team

This is the first time the PS5 has been successfully hacked. But for anyone who expects it to be the gateway to piracy gaming. I must say that it is still very far from the truth. Since the firmware of the device must be an old version. And of course, the new version has already filled the loopholes.

Not counting the matter of modifying the firmware to be able to play game ROMs or make an Emulator to use on a jailbreak-enabled device, and most importantly, if you have to use the PlayStation 5 to play games, copy it and you can’t connect online. (Because if connected online, the device will have to update the version), it seems that it is useless to play the game.
