Time, once once more, seems disjointed. Yes, the PlayStation 2 is really 23 years old. A console very appreciated by most and described as a “legendary” console by a majority.

The PS2 was home to several amazing franchises and gave birth to classics that we still watch today. When you check out some of the best games, you can clearly see what a powerhouse this was – GTA San Andreas, ICO, Bully, Final Fantasy X, Ratchet et Clank, God of War, Kingdom Hearts, Timesplitters 2 – the list goes on.

What better place than Reddit to celebrate and gather opinion? A post was created to celebrate the anniversary and many players gathered to take their turn making us old or shouting regarding their favorite game. “Legendary console. I bought mine in 2002, which was pretty cool because at that time there were a lot of great games in the greatest hits line, including MGS2. » says u/Believe0017 which highlights another banger.

Another user mentions that he had to buy a network card for his console because at the time it was not a standard. Not until the slim console launches anyway. Of course, u/TheStrangeOne45 had to make everyone feel their age by saying “Holy shit.” I wasn’t even alive until a few months following the PS2 came out. ” Thanks for that.

This anniversary allows us to celebrate the console and how it has moved us forward, especially when it came to creating a series. However, the PS2 was not only a great console because of the names it used, but also because it was a place to experiment with “outside the box” ideas. It’s up there with the Xbox 360 as the industry-defining console that revolutionized what we thought video games might do.
