INDRA Bekti admitted that he got to know Indonesian heroes better after starring in the “Sabang Merauke Performance” which was performed at the JIExpo Theatre, Central Jakarta on August 17 and 18, 2024.

The actor who plays the character Bagong from the puppet story admitted that from the story of the Sabang Merauke Performance he now knows several Indonesian heroes whose names he has rarely heard.

One of them is Siti Manggopoh, a female fighter who fought against the Dutch colonialists in Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

“I rarely heard of Siti Manggopoh, even though she is from West Sumatra, even though she is from my own region, I am also from Padang. It turns out that there are many heroes who are not widely known, usually they are displayed in schools,” said Indra as reported by Antara.

Playing a puppet character, Indra has his own challenges, namely having to pronounce refined Javanese and changing his voice to sound like Bagong.

“I have to see what the character is like from his voice, and I also use Javanese, so it’s quite easy to use Javanese, but I can’t speak fluently,” he said.
