Play Mario and get rewarded: Nintendo Switch Online offers freebies if you’re loyal

Nintendo Switch Online introduces a new feature for subscribers: missions that allow you to collect points and access rewards.

Nintendo has decided to reward the loyalty of its subscribers to the Nintendo Switch Online. In a press release published on February 28, we discover the existence of a new feature called “Missions and rewards”. As its name suggests, it allows you to complete certain specific tasks in order to recover points, points which can then be exchanged for bonuses.

« You can complete missions by regularly using various Nintendo Switch Online services, such as online play or save data cloud “, can we read in description. In short, it can be quite easy to collect Platinum points, which serve as virtual currency to spend in a catalog of objects or cosmetic elements on your behalf. This system reminds Microsoft Rewards.

This feature is already available in France.

Nintendo offers rewards to regular players

Nintendo obviously gives the terms of the various missions to be completed. When we open the Nintendo Switch Online application on the console, we discover four objectives for the moment:

  • Playing online earns 30 points (once a week);
  • Using the save data cloud is worth 20 points (once a week);
  • Will play Super Mario Bros. on NES earns 50 points (one time only);
  • Using the Nintendo Switch Online app earns 20 points (once a week).

As you can see, some quests are reset regularly, while others are only punctual. Suffice to say that you should never hesitate to relaunch the application to discover new objectives that are simple to fulfill.

What can you get with Platinum Points? We can create a personalized icon by unlocking characters (10 points), backgrounds (5 points) and frames (5 points). Right now these are the games Super Mario Odyssey and Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There are also physical items to collect from the store — like this lien for Cable Pokémon Legends: Arceus (400 points).

These tasks are exclusive to Nintendo Switch Online, but non-subscribers can still get some Platinum points. Linking a Twitter account to your Nintendo account allows you, for example, to acquire 10 in just a few clicks.
