At the end of March this year,University of ArizonaPaul Milliman, Associate Professor of Medieval History in the School of History, and Alison Futrell, Associate Professor and Head of Roman History, jointly offer a special “Online Illuminated Histories Experience” course, allowing students to learn history while playing “Century Empire 4” to earn credit.

The course is conducted by World’s Edge game studio and Relic Entertainment game designersCooperative developmentstudents can play special single-player campaign levels through Empire of Age 4, which also allows players to participate in additional game expansions to test and deepen their knowledge of history.
“It’s a very innovative way of learning,” said department chair Alison Futrell. “We didn’t know there were colleges and universities in the world that had this kind of partnership with video game designers. We hope that students at the University of Arizona campus have this kind of partnership. Players of Age of Empires and Age of Empires will be excited regarding this course and will be interested in other courses offered by the History Department.”
