The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, reported this Friday the death of the plastic artist and revolutionary activist, Luis Daniel Barrios.
“The Venezuelan plastic artist and revolutionary activist Luis Daniel Barrios departed to eternity,” reported on the social network X.
“I extend to his family and loved ones the condolences of the Bolivarian Government, his friends from the Ministry of Culture and my personal condolences,” said Villegas.
In this sense, Villegas published an audiovisual material in which he shows part of Barrios’ statements during the V Bienal del Sur 2023 about his vision of art and culture.
“Culture is the street, culture is the people, culture is what we are daily, from everyday life how we are: Blacks, Indians, whites, mestizos, zambos, mulattoes; All that is on the street. You see the street culture there, for us the street feels, the street is everything,” Barrios said on that occasion.
Barrios was born on February 3, 1950 in Maturín, Monagas state. His beginnings in art were at the age of 10 independently. He had a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a designer.
He held the position in 2018 as general secretary of the People’s Electoral Movement (MEP), and also stood out as a social leader, especially in the Sucre parish of Caracas.
