BRF’s pilot plant has a cutting-edge structure for innovation and carries out more than 300 formulation tests monthly

BRF, one of the largest food companies in the world and owners of the Sadia, Perdigão and Qualy brands, has Innovation in its DNA. This year, the company launched products such as Mignoneto, Xtreme Empanacho and Big Nuggets, which are being successful among consumers. An important part of the innovation process goes through the pilot plant, which is located at the BRF Innovation Center (BIC), in Jundiaí. The infrastructure of this pilot plant has the capacity to carry out around 500 product formulations per month, in addition to conducting approximately 300 tests and laboratory analyzes focused on packaging. This environment offers complete support for the development of new products and process improvement, ensuring efficiency and quality in the research and testing stages.

With an area of 2 thousand m² dedicated to innovative projects, prototyping and process improvement, the facility stands out as a center of technological and creative excellence. “The plant is a true innovation laboratory, equipped with around 200 pieces of equipment designed to function like a mini factory.

The pilot plant is capable of simulating all the processes that exist within the company, from the production of cuts to the production of margarine, complex processes that require independent flows”, explains Fabio Bagnara, director of Research & Development at BRF.

More than 10 areas

The plant houses more than 10 specialized areas, each focused on different types of projects, as well as 12 freezing and cooling chambers. These chambers have the capacity to store up to 11 tons of samples, ensuring that all prototypes under development can be tested under ideal conditions.

Considered a complete innovation hub, the pilot plant has a complete packaging laboratory prepared to conduct different analysis methods. The laboratory has 13 types of analyzes for cellulosic material, 11 for flexible material and 7 for rigid material.

“The main objective of these analyzes is to reinforce the commitment to research and development, in addition to ensuring total quality, precise parameterization and packaging compliance throughout the organization. Thus, not only do we continually innovate with our portfolio, but we also maintain the integrity and excellence of its packaging, ensuring customer satisfaction and market leadership.”, comments the executive.

With the pilot plant, BRF simulates all of the company’s internal processes and advances in the creation of innovative solutions that meet market demands and consumer needs. The integration of product and packaging development reinforces the company’s commitment to quality and innovation.
