Like every month, we analyzed the price of our groceries with the RTL info / Test Achats basket, with one observation: part of your holiday meals might cost you more this year, especially if you have planned to put on the menu raclette and smoked salmon.
In supermarkets, parties are already everywhere. On shopping lists, Christmas and New Year menus are gradually being prepared. Most of the customers we met expect to pay more this year. But according to them, the budget is not the main criterion. “We’re already careful all year round, so during the holidays, we let loose a little”tells us a customer. “In these times, I think you have to have fun”another tells us.
If you have planned, for example, raclette, be prepared to pay more than last year. Cheeses overall cost 10% more than in November last year. Prices driven up by products like gouda. It has increased by 56% in two years. Another notable increase with mozzarella (+17%).
Fish also experienced an increase (+7%). Smoked salmon is 11% more expensive than on the eve of last year’s holidays.
In the fish department, there is good news. Gray shrimp cost less than last year. But if we go back two years, we notice that they experienced a price increase of 36%.
