ST. PAUL, M.N. (Dakota News Now) – On Thursday, Planned Parenthood North Central States unionized staff voted to ratify their first contract.
The three-year contract was supported by 84% of votes cast and comes following 15 months of negotiations.
“The ratification of our first union contract is yet another example of how our staff is committed to advancing and protecting sexual and reproductive health care for all—both inside our organization and within the community,” said President and CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States, Ruth Richardson. “This contract provides stability as we face rising costs for providing care and looming threats from courts and legislatures around the region. It will enrich the work environment at Planned Parenthood and lead to an even better standard of high-quality care for our patients.”
The contract includes a pay increase of almost 15% over the next three years as well as an increase to minimum wage, securing and expanding benefits for union members, further stability in schedules and job duties and more.
Planned Parenthood North Central States operates 25 health centers across Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
