Plane makes emergency landing after bomb threat from Germany

A Jetstar aircraft had to make an emergency landing on Saturday. Five people were slightly injured during the evacuation.

A plane from the Australian low-cost company Jetstar had to make an emergency landing at the Japan this Saturday, after a bomb threat. According to the public television channel NHKthe plane had left Narita airport, heading for Fukuoka, in the south of the country.

Around 6:20 a.m., Narita Airport received a call from a man in Germany claiming to have planted a bomb in the aircraft. The flight was immediately diverted to Chūbu International Airport in Tokoname, Honshū Island.

No explosives found on board

The 136 passengers and 6 crew members were evacuated via the emergency slides. Five people were slightly injured during the evacuation.

According to police sources, quoted by NHK, the man claimed to have planted a 100-kilogram bomb in the hold of the plane, and threatened to detonate it if he was not put in touch with a ” manager”. No explosive device was found on board.

Traffic at Chūbu airport was interrupted for four hours, the time for checks.
