The light slowly declines on the Place de la Demi-Lune, so named because of its shape. Open since July, it was officially inaugurated on Saturday 2 September.

It will primarily benefit the Testaud district, a village in the city with a working-class past. “Its inhabitants were modest families who worked in the shipyards of Bordeaux, in the docks and in other factories. Since then, Testaud has been transformed and the Place de la Demi-Lune has become a symbol of nature which is part of this industrial past, ”recounted the elected official.

Under study for years, the file consists of creating a green line of three kilometers at the articulation of three municipalities: Lormont, Cenon and Bordeaux-Bastide. This involves regenerating about ten hectares made up of abandoned land and railway embankments. The development of the old section of railway line bordering the Place de la Demi-Lune marks a first glimpse of the intentions imagined by Bas Smets, Belgian landscape architect also in charge of the new forecourt of Notre-Dame de Paris.
Still, the weaving of the three municipalities by the Brazzaligne is not for now. “We talk a lot with the SNCF to make the whole project a reality. It’s not easy but we hope to get the full moon in two or three years,” said Christine Bost.

Keeping to the provisional schedule (2025) will depend above all on the ability to reconcile the greenway with rail safety obligations. Knowing that a train continues to supply, for example, the site of the Grands Moulins de Paris – factory in Bordeaux. The Brazzaligne budget amounts to 5.5 million euros, an amount mainly financed by Bordeaux Métropole. The State, via the Banque des Territoires, subsidizes approximately 700,000 euros.
