Place allocation for Viennese Minibambini children is ongoing

The search for places for children, who have to get new kindergarten places in Vienna with the end of the Minibambini locations, is also in full swing at the weekend, as announced by the city. Around 80 parents or parents were advised following a call to the specially created helpline by Saturday early followingnoon at the service point of MA 10, which is responsible for the kindergartens, according to the office of the responsible city councilor Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS) to the APA.

“The majority has already been given a new place. Some still need further advice and mediation, for example because the new kindergarten would have been too far away,” said a spokesman on request. In addition to the municipal operators and MA 10 boss Karin Broukal, the private providers of kindergarten places are also involved in the parent consultations, which lasted until 4 p.m. on Saturday and continued on Sunday.

It was not possible to answer on Saturday how many girls and boys might still be left without a place in kindergarten despite all efforts when the working week started on Monday. According to Karin Broukal, since the announcement of the funding stop at the end of February until Thursday, there had been 136 specific requests for a change of location via the helpline, all of which were dealt with positively. According to the spokesman, an as yet unknown number of legal guardians have also independently taken care of a change to another kindergarten without the help of the authorities. Other parents would probably contact the helpline and service point tomorrow, Sunday.

A total of around 800 children were cared for at the twelve locations. After the insolvency, which occurred as a result of a funding stop following criticism from the city audit office, the license for further operation was withdrawn on Friday, at the same time the bankruptcy proceedings started, and the parents were asked on Friday to send their offspring during the day to pick up. An APA local inspection had shown that a number of mothers and fathers were badly surprised by the end. The city council office has said several times that the operators had assured those affected, among other things in letters to parents, that they would not have to worry regarding the kindergarten place despite everything. These “reassurances were not helpful,” said a spokesman. The city officials, on the other hand, had asked the operators to inform the parents in good time regarding all developments.
