THE National Awakening Party (PKB) has no problem if the Supreme Advisory Council (DPA) is filled by previous presidents. Starting from the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, the sixth President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
“There is no problem, moreover it is also the president’s prerogative,” said PKB DPP Chair Luluk Nur Hamidah at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, (10/7).
For Luluk, DPA must maintain balance and be filled with diverse figures. At the same time, it must represent the group that will maintain the unity of Indonesia in the future.
“So it reflects a fairly diverse group where meritocracy is also important and there is also a balance between men and women. So don’t let men be left behind at moments like this, then women will also be left behind,” said Luluk.
DPA, he said, also does not have to be filled by a former head of state. Other national figures can have the opportunity to fill the DPA seat.
“That is a noble place for noble people to provide considerations and input, so that Indonesia’s direction becomes better,” said Luluk.

The Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR agreed to discuss the Revision of Law Number 19 of 2006 concerning the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres). One of the proposed changes is to change the nomenclature of Wantimpres to DPA.
Baleg also agreed that the revision of the law would be a DPR initiative. As many as nine factions agreed that the agreement taken by Baleg would be brought to a plenary meeting.
The plenary meeting will ratify that the revision of the Wantimpres Law is a DPR initiative proposal. If approved, the draft revision of the policy will be sent to the government to be issued a presidential letter (surpres) for discussion in the DPR. (Z-8)
