The head of the Judiciary of the State of Mexico, Ricardo Sodi Cuellar, signed coordination agreements with the municipalities of Nicolás Romero, Isidro Fabela, Jilotzingo, Atizapán and Tepotzotlán to address, prevent and eradicate family violence in the state. Currently, there are already 33 municipalities.

During the signing of the agreements in the Azquil Cultural Unit of Nicolás Romero, the President Magistrate stressed the importance of preventing violence from intensifying and becoming homicidal or femicidal. To this end, he trained police officers and municipal public servants in the use of the Specialized Online Court for Family Violence and the Protection of Children and Adolescents.

Since the implementation of this public policy, 2,764 protection measures have been granted. The basis of this strategy is dissemination, training and evaluation. The Presiding Magistrate called on the public to promote a culture of denunciation, since security depends not only on authority, but on everyone.

Sodi Cuellar pointed out that the position of municipal president is one of the most difficult and for this reason he recognized the mayors of Nicolás Romero, Atizapán, Isidro Fabela, Tepotzotlán and Jilotzingo for their commitment to preventing family violence. He expressed his wish that family violence does not occur in these five municipalities and that the best public policy is the one that deals with these behaviors.

Mayor Navarrete López de Nicolás Romero commented that, although they do not have a gender alert, they have the challenge of preventing and eradicating family violence. The coordination agreement signed adds to the tools that have been undertaken in the municipality to deal with this problem.

The Minister of the Judiciary, Raúl Aarón Romero Ortega, explained that magistrates, judges, public servants and municipal police officers have been trained in the use of the online court, which operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to guarantee that security measures protection dictated by the judges are fulfilled correctly.
