The death of her 7-year-old brother that she never got over, the beginning of her career alongside Giorgos Zambeta and the shyness she still has today. Pizza Papadopoulou in a confession of the heart on the show Studio 4.
When on Thursday followingnoon (28.03.2024) Pizza Papadopoulou sat on the sofa opposite Thanasis Anagnostopoulos and Nancy Zampetoglou, she talked regarding everything.
The famous singer revealed that her brother was killed at the age of 7 when he was run over by a tram.
“My mom worked and my older sister looked following me and the two boys. One day we had gone for a walk and were sitting at a tram stop. My brother Nikos and a friend climbed behind the tram while it was stopped and hung while it was moving.
Because he was small and did not know, he entered the space that was between the two wagons. The controller was telling him to get off but he didn’t understand. At one point he let go of his hands and the tram ran over him. I was very young then”, described Pizza Papadopoulou.
“My mom learned that the hard way. Returning from work, a neighbor called her and said: “Ms. Iulia, your child was killed, the tram ran over him.” None of us got over it, especially my mom. When you’re young you see things differently, it’s a different pain for her and another for us children.”
The great folk performer spoke regarding both her beginnings and her journey.
“I have never been such an open person with people at my work. I’m a very closed person and I don’t know why.
As I went out to work, I completely changed. I became more serious, while I was a carefree girl in Thessaloniki working and hanging out. But I came to Athens a more closed person. And I’m still ashamed.
I also dated a Zambeta. At noon he listened to me and in the evening I was singing in the shop with Moscholiou and Zambeta, while Xarchakos and Vougiouklaki were downstairs and people I used to see him alone in the movies.
I never liked this job myself, I didn’t like it at all. In fact, I remember crying and wanting to go back to Thessaloniki.
When I went out to sing in the shop with Moscholiou, Zambetas made plans for me and I was scared. While I love the song, I don’t love the work. Don’t look at where I’m working,” said Pizza Papadopoulou.
