This Wednesday, February 22, members of the Special Team of Prosecutors in the Lava Jato Case raided the properties of former governors of the Piura region Javier Atkins and Reynaldo Hilbck, who are being investigated for the crimes of collusion and incompatible negotiation for the alleged favoring of the Brazilian construction company Camargo and Correa in the award of the Alto Piura Special Hydropower Project valued at 479 million 663 thousand 437 soles. The procedure was carried out with the participation of the High Complexity Crime Investigation Division (Diviac) of the Peruvian National Police (PNP).
The prosecutor Luis Alberto Ordonez He led the intervention in the homes of both former regional governors located in the Los Éjidos populated center. The tax authorities seized computer equipment and documents from Javier Atkins’ property that will serve to complement the evidence in the investigation that, according to the judicial decision, was extended until October 2023.

In a brief dialogue with La República, the representative of the Public Ministry remarked that this case is kept confidential. “We are the Lava Jato Special Team of Lima. We are running an errand, but all information is sensitive and confidential. We are in the development of the investigations”, stressed Luis Alberto Ordóñez.
It should be noted that Javier Atkins He was governor of Piura between 2011 and 2014 and Reynaldo Adolfo Hilbck between 2015 and 2018. The latter was a candidate for the Regional Government in the October 2022 elections.
The case of the Camargo y Correa company includes them in a single process for the alleged favoring through term extensions in the Alto Piura hydropower project, which harmed the interests of the State.
